Shooting Script - By Louis Liburd

Blog Background- By Louis Liburd

The background of my blog is a picture that was taken by myself in the streets of London.  I thought this picture would tell you guys something about the type of person I am.  By looking at the environment that, I am constantly surrounded by.  London Is a very interesting place.  The colours and the different contrasts that come out at night intrigue me.  The way people dress and how they are constantly breaking boundaries inspires me to incorporate those types of things in my next projects. The lighting that I witnessed in London influenced me to really go the extra mile with lighting in our opening film sequence.  Even though these pictures are outside and the whole of our short film "Suspect" is inside.  These images helped me find a great balance between low key lighting and high key lighting.  In the future I am definitely going to shoot a short film in Soho.

Title "Suspect" - By Louis Liburd

The title of our Media opening is called "Suspect".  At first we were really struggling to find a name, we went through a list of many different ones.  At first we were sure on calling our film "Names" , however I thought that this did not create an impact on the audience.  The name "Names" did not motivate me as an individual to watch this opening scene.  We needed a title that would draw our audience in, a title that would make a random person wanting to know more.  Luckily a friend of ours who was watching our opening sequence, randomly screamed out "Suspect".  As soon as he said the line "he's now a suspect" .  It made perfect sense for our project to be called "Suspect".  The film title fitted in really well, as it related to exactly what was going on within the film.  The title emphasised our action/thriller genre, as the name "Suspect" brings suspense alone.

The God Father
One product that we were heavily influenced by was "the God Father".  We felt that this film was able to bring out, everything we wanted to do within an opening scene.  It created suspense and an ominous feeling by hiding the Godfathers face.  The over the shoulder shot of this dark figure, listening to another man begging for his help, emphasises his power in this situation.  The diegetic sound of the cat and the birds singing outside really emphasise the tension within the room.  By not including a typical non diegetic background score.  The diegetic sound of the dialogue is the main factor, which causes you to feel the emotion within this scene.
